whiskey bent and hellbound
Gin is definitely my summer fling but when the air gets a little chilly there is nothing like a good nip of whiskey to keep you warm. For years, Buffalo Trace (great name, right?) was my go-to for its fantastic flavor and bargain price of $20 a bottle.
Then the hipsters wrapped their freelancing little fingers around it. Recently, I ordered a Buffalo Trace in Brooklyn and it was $8 a glass. Ouch, baby.
Enter the new sheriff in town; George Dickel No. 12. At $19 a bottle and under the new york radar, I think we're made for each other. It's a libation liberation!
every respectable lady needs a whiskey holster. duh.
and flooring made of reclaimed whiskey barrels. double duh.
Enjoy the weekend! Tonight, we're going to see Contagion with my lady crush Gwyneth. I'm pumped.

you make me feel like dancing
whoa, look at these pictures of my parents circa pre-michelle (and her infectious disposition).
My mom had it.going.ON. And, Dad, you have hair! I thought you were bald since 12. Today is full of revelations.
Here is a cute one of my parents dancing. They're just as in love today. When my mom is out of town, my dad sleeps on the couch because he can't sleep in the bed without her. Peas and carrots.
yikes. dancing ain't what it used to be.

out of the woodwork
If there is one thing I've learned about dating, it's that ex-boyfriends never truly go away.
Despite thinking you'll never hear from them again, you ALWAYS do. They disappear for a period, only to re-emerge out of the woodwork at the most inopportune times.
Sometimes it's a random text while out with your new fox, other times it's a weird comment on a Facebook picture or, my personal favorite, a birthday email asking you "what's new?" a year after they dumped you.
What are they even doing in the woodwork while they wait for you to partially move on before striking? Whittling chess pieces?
Confirmed - Ex-boyfriends and cockroaches will be the only two specimens to survive a nuclear attack.

NY, NY
I hope everyone is ok! My thoughts go out to those along the East Coast affected by Hurricane Irene.
One thing I was reminded of this weekend, I love this city.

I want to ride my bicycle
These bikes are the bees knees. And I need one, stat.
If my Dad were to buy me this for a gift, my bike would be spelled "Michele" He often forgets that my name is spelled with two 'L's'. When I tell him that he had the choice and that the spelling of my name was entirely in his control, he reminds me that he knows my birth date. Good one, old man.
